Solaris Panel
November 18, 2014Solaris Panel features approximately 90 shapes cut from black Plexiglas (brand name: “Solaris”) exactly matching various models and makes of contemporary mobile devices—smartphones and notepads—that, in sleep mode, resemble the black Claude mirror, an artist’s aid first invented in the 17th century. Artists would stand with their backs to what they wished to represent and paint the somewhat abstracted, desaturated, and already framed view as seen in the black mirror.
